Miss Black and Gold (ANCA and Southern Region) is visited by Oprah Winfrey

Andronica Klaas currently serves as Miss Black and Gold representing both ANCA and the Southern Region. She graduated on Sunday, May 21 from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte with a degree in Management Information Systems.  Miss Klaas formerly attended the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

Brother Moses T. Alexander Greene (Nov 2015 initiate into Phi Lambda Chapter) has been selected as the new Director of the North Carolina State University Black Cultural Center.
The Black Cultural Center is housed within the Gus Witherspoon Center on the campus of NC State.

The Witherspoon Student Center is named after Brother Augustus M. Witherspoon to honor his dedication of mentoring students while serving as an outstanding researcher, professor, and community leader. Augustus M. Witherspoon was the first African American professor at NC State and the second African American to receive a PhD from NC State.
Bro. Witherspoon was a proud active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Southern Region, District of North Carolina and Phi Lambda Chapter.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Returning to Barton College

Some of the members of the Omicron Beta Chapter, Epsilon Sigma Lambda Chapter, and representation from the Area 1 Leadership Team  met with the Dean of Students at Barton College on February 28, 2017.  The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the expansion of the Omicron Beta Chapter to Barton College.  The Omicron Beta Chapter has a joint charter for both Barton College and North Carolina Wesleyan College.  Barton College chartered on October 9th, 1980 and North Carolina Wesleyan College on March 21st 1982.  The last time there were Alphas who were initiated at Barton College was the Charter line in 1980.  After meeting with the Dean of Students, Barton College is in full support to return the Alphas to campus after 37 years.  Upon submitting paperwork, the Omicron Beta Chapter is planning to be the only Divine Nine Greek organization at Barton College.  The Brothers of Area 1 are excited for the expansion of the Fraternity to another college campus!
